Youth arrested for stealing passenger autos

Two autos worth Rs. 1 lakh recovered

Mysore/Mysuru: Saraswathipuram Police have arrested a youth on charges of stealing passenger autorickshaws and have recovered two autos worth about Rs. 1 lakh from him.

The arrested youth is 25-year-old Sharath alias Yogesh alias Yatish, a painter by profession and a resident of Ramakrishnanagar in city.

Saraswathipuram Police, who were on their regular beat on K.G. Koppal-Pampapathi Road at about 8.45 am yesterday, found an auto (KA-09-A-7852) stationed and found Sharath sitting inside. When the Cops questioned him, Sharat did not provide proper information, which led to the Police to suspect him and brought him to the Police Station for enquiry.

During interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed of stealing the auto near Saibaba Temple in Ramakrishnagar besides telling the Police that he had stolen another passenger auto in Devaraja Police limits.

Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered both the stolen autos worth Rs. 1 lakh from him.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and K.R. Sub-Division ACP Poornachandra Tejaswi guided Saraswathipuram Inspector Thimmaraju, Sub-Inspector Ramesh and staff Basavaraje Urs, Raghavendra Kumar, Harish Kumar, Umesh, Manjunath and Karigowda in the nabbing and recovery operation.
