Youth arrested for obstructing Police Officer from performing his duty

Mysuru: Lashkar Police have arrested a person, who not only violated traffic rules but also obstructed a Police Officer from performing his duty.

The accused has been identified as 20-year-old Naseem, a resident of Ghousianagar in city.

The Police Officer identified as ASI Channabasavaiah attached to N.R. Traffic Police Station, was performing his duty on Irwin Road on Nov. 18 at about 9 am, when Naseem, who came on a bike sans helmet from Ashoka Road was caught by the ASI for violating traffic rule and asked him (Naseem) to produce the vehicle document.

When Naseem failed to produce the documents, the ASI asked him to pay Rs. 500 as fine to which Naseem told the ASI that he would pay the fine in the Court. The ASI then told Naseem that he cannot release the bike until he pays the fine. Naseem, who called his friends over the phone, told the ASI that he is getting the money following which the ASI                                                             proceeded to give him the receipt for the fine through the hand-held device. Meanwhile, Naseem who not only captured the video of the ASI giving him the receipt, but also abused him, thus obstructing the ASI from performing his duty.

ASI Channabasavaiah, in his complaint, has stated that the Naseem not only obstructed him but has also posted the video he had captured in the social media thus hurting his sentiments.

Lashkar Police, who registered the complaint, arrested the youth, who has now been remanded to judicial custody.
