Youth cheats friend of Rs. 21 lakh

Mysore/Mysuru: A youth has allegedly cheated his friend of several lakhs of rupees on the  pretext of facilitating Government job to a family member.

The accused, identified as  Sandeep Kumar, had taken a car and about Rs. 21 lakh from his friend of eight years Supriya, who works in a private company. He had made many promises to her including arranging a Government job to her family member.

Sandeep had initially taken an amount of Rs. 10 lakh from Supriya promising to help her in a business venture. Later, his friend Manoj Kumar had stolen gold jewellery worth Rs. 10 lakh from his home and gave it to Sandeep Kumar, which he had pledged at a private firm in the name of Supriya. When the family members of Manoj Kumar lodged a complaint at Metagalli Police Station, Sandeep Kumar settled the case after taking Rs. 8.5 lakh from Supriya.

In the meantime, Sandeep again took Rs. 2.5 lakh from Supriya promising a government job to one of her family members. When Supriya demanded Sandeep to return her car and money, he allegedly abused her besides threatening to kill her if she approached the Police.

Supriya lodged a complaint against Sandeep Kumar and his two friends Manoj Kumar and Puneet at Vijayanagar Police Station. Vijayanagar Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
