Youth drowns in KRS backwaters

April 2, 2018

Mysuru: A 23-year-old youth, who had gone for a swim along with two of his friends, was reportedly drowned in KRS backwaters yesterday afternoon.

The deceased youth has been identified as Basavaraju, a resident of Devegowdanahundi, near Hale Unduvadi.

Yesterday afternoon, all the three ventured into the water for a swim where Basavaraju got drowned, while the two others swam back to the shore and informed about the incident to the villagers who in turn informed Yelwal Police.

Yelwal Police, who rushed to the spot along with Fire and Emergency Services personnel and expert swimmers, began their operation to fish out the body of Basavaraju but had to stop in the evening due to bad light.

The operation continued this morning and the body was yet to be fished out when we went to the Press. No complaint has been lodged so far.
