Youth drowns in River Kapila

Nanjangud: A 24-year-old youth, who went to take bath in Kapila River near Mallanamoole Mutt here, was drowned after getting caught in a whirlpool on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as B. Vinay Kumar, son of Basavaraju and a resident of Dadada Kallahalli in Mysuru taluk.

An employee of Chamundi Silks factory, Vinay Kumar was engaged to Sangeetha, daughter of Bilikere Mariswamy in Hunsur taulk. On Sunday, Vinay Kumar along with Sangeetha and her brother Sanjay Kumar, went to Srikanteshwara Temple to celebrate his (Vinay Kumar) birthday. While returning, Vinay Kumar ventured into the waters near Mallanamoole Mutt where he was caught in the whirlpool and reportedly drowned.

The body was fished out on Monday with the help of expert swimmers and divers and was shifted to the Taluk Hospital, where post-mortem was conducted and the body handed over to the family members.

A case has been registered at Rural Police Station in this regard.
