Mysore/Mysuru: On account of World Consumer Day, Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) had arranged a talk at Rotary Brindavan School in city recently by Dr. D.R. Kumarswamy, Director of Prakurthi Institute of Environmental Studies, Bengaluru. He enlightened students on conservation of natural resources.

MGP, now headed by Shreeshail  Ramannavar as its President and Dr. Shobhana as Working President along with  Founding President Dr. Bhamy V. Shenoy, has decided to take up various issues to be solved at city level and each of the Executive Committee (EC) member has been given the  responsibility for a particular task.

Dr. Renu Agrawal, former Chief Scientist and Rural Programme Coordinator, CFTRI, Mysuru, who is an EC member of MGP, has been made the Convenor for forming Youth Forums in some Schools and Colleges in the city.

The main objective of Youth Forum is to bring students together to make them leaders.

This Forum will give them an opportunity to make a difference in their local communities. Issues like natural resources, climate change, balanced diet, agriculture and forests, heritage buildings, safe banking, cyber security and human rights will be addressed to impart awareness about health, sanitation and legal issues.

In this regard, Youth Forums have been initiated by Dr. Renu Agrawal in three High Schools — Mahajana, Lions and Rotary Brindavan and also at Vidya Vikas Degree College.

Such talks will be organised at all these institutions for creating awareness among the youths, who are tomorrow’s leaders.
