Mysore/Mysuru: Vijayanagar Police have arrested a person on charges of murdering a woman at his house in Belawadi in city on Thursday.
According to Police, the accused has been identified as 27-year-old Kiran Kumar of Bommenahalli village of Yelwal Hobli in Mysuru taluk.
He was arrested for allegedly killing his aunt’s daughter by suspecting her character and has been sent to judicial custody.
Details: The deceased, Preethukumari of Kumbarkoppal in K.R. Nagar taluk, was married to a person from Madanur village in Hunsur taluk. The couple have three children. As her husband was torturing her daily, she was living with her parents since last nine months.
In the meantime, Kiran Kumar saw her and promised to give her a new life. He took her along with her three children to Kodagu where they stayed for one month. They later came back to Mysuru and took a house on rent in Sweeper’s Colony on Church Street. However, he continued to suspect her character and kept an eye on her movements.
This was resulting in a regular fight among them. Kiran, not only used to torture her but used to beat up the kids too. Unable to bear his torture anymore, she decided to leave the house.
While she was about to go out of the house on Thursday night, Kiran Kumar picked up quarrel and attacked her with a machete. As she cried for help, he fled the scene.
The critically injured Preethukumari was shifted to a private hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Based on the complaint, Vijayanagar Police Inspector Balakrishna, Sub-Inspector Ramesh and staff Srinivasamurthy, Prashanth, Veerabhadru and Girish, arrested the accused near Belawadi Gate. He was produced before a Court which remanded him to judicial custody.
Vijayanagar Police have registered a case.
