August 21, 2017

Mysuru: A man lost his arm while trying to board a moving train at Sujathapuram Railway Station in Nanjangud on Aug. 18. He has been identified as 30-year-old Paramesh, son of late Shivanna and a resident of Srirangapatna in Mandya district.

Paramesh, who has been working as a construction worker since about three years, used to come by train from Srirangapatna to Nanjangud and stand near Devikere Gate.

He used to go with those who called him for work and return to Srirangapatna by train after finishing his work in the evening.

On Aug. 18, Paramesh who finished his work at about 6 pm, consumed liquor with his friend, had his dinner and went to Sujathapuram Railway Station in Nanjangud to board a train to Srirangapatna.

When he went to the Railway Station, Paramesh tried to board the moving train but slipped and his left hand came under the wheels of the train and was severed.

Though Paramesh screamed in pain for help, none heard him and he came to a distance leaving his severed hand on the track and screamed again, which alerted passersby.

The public, who saw Paramesh bleeding and screaming for help, shifted him in a 108 ambulance to Nanjangud Government Hospital and was shifted to K.R. Hospital for advanced treatment.

Railway Police have registered a case in this regard.
