Special POCSO Court asks him to pay Rs. 4 lakh compensation

Mysuru: The Mysuru Special POCSO Court has sentenced a youth to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and has asked him to pay Rs. 4 lakh compensation for raping a minor girl.

The accused, who has been sentenced, is 29-year-old Shashi alias Shashidhar, a resident of T. Narasipur.  The accused had sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl continuously resulting in the girl getting pregnant following which the girl’s parents had lodged a complaint at T.Narasipur Police Station.

The Police, who arrested the accused based on the complaint by the victim’s parents, conducted an investigation and had submitted a charge-sheet against the accused to the Special POCSO Court.

Judge B.S. Jayashree, who heard the arguments from both sides on Wednesday, found the accused guilty of the crime and sentenced him. 

Special Prosecutor B.C. Shivarudraswamy argued on behalf of the Government.
