Youth’s murder: Four arrested

Mysore/Mysuru: Vidyaranyapuram Police have arrested four youths and have taken three juveniles into custody, in the murder case of a youth identified as Nandakishore at Gundu Rao Nagar on Sunday evening.

The accused were arrested by Vidyaranyapuram Inspector Raju, Sub-Inspector Rangaswamy and staff from a remote place at the foot of Chamundi Hill yesterday night.

The arrested youths are Abhi, Praveen alias Kappe, Mahadeva alias Chinna and Beeresh, all aged between 21 and 22 years and residents of Kanakagiri.

All the youths are working as labourers, while the juveniles are school dropouts. They had gone into hiding after stabbing Nandakishore of Bhyraveshwaranagar and it is learnt that they were planning to escape to Tamil Nadu when Vidyaranyapuram Police zeroed in on them at their hideout. A dagger and a machete (long) have been seized from them. The accused would be produced before a Court later in the day today.

It may be recalled that Nandakishore’s friend Sanjay, along with two of his friends, was taking his dog for a walk on Sunday evening, when a group of seven to eight youths, including the juveniles, who were sitting in the vacant space between Gundu Rao Nagar and Kanakagiri, reportedly picked up a fight which led to a wordy duel between them.

Angered over this Sanjay is said to have hit a juvenile boy. Irked over this the group retaliated and thrashed Sanjay, who informed the matter to Nandakishore over the phone. Nandakishore, who arrived at the spot, questioned the group, during which he was allegedly stabbed. The profusely bleeding Nandakishore had died on the spot and Sanjay was also injured in the incident.
