Mysore/Mysuru: The Centre for Disaster Management, Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Mysuru, in association with Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India and Revenue Depart6ment, Government of Karnataka, had organised a two-day zone-wise training on National Disaster Management Information System (NDMIS) for 65 officers from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana from June 2 at ATI on Lalitha Mahal Road in city.

In his inaugural address. Dr. Manoj Rajan, IFS, Commissioner of KSDMA, informed the officers to be more proactive on disaster documentation and said that every set of data regarding NDRF and SDRF funding shall be informed, reported, consolidated and validated.

Dr. Ashok Sanganal, Course Director, ATI in his introductory remarks said that NDMIS portal has been designed with data sets on district-wise disaster loss and damages to people, critical infrastructure, SFDRR targets and funding that needs to be uploaded by the identified  officials.

Pawan Kumar, Deputy Secretary, MHA, explained the importance of NDMIS and its advantages for monitoring the disaster data base at the District, State and National level. He also highlighted the role of DM officials in generating the disaster data on NDMIS portal.

Vikram Gurjar, Deputy Commandant, Disaster Management Division, and team from MHA imparted hands-on training on how to collect and upload the information on the District and Statewide disasters.

Faculty Members Alec Lobo, Chandra Naik and Communication Officer Dr. M. Dileep Kumar coordinated the training programme.  Srivalli, DD (Training), Somashekar, Assistant Director, Revenue Departmnet, Senior Officers from Odisha and others were present in the valedictory.
