Mysore/Mysuru: Following the tragic death of a 22-year-old youth due to Cholera and numerous others falling ill from consuming contaminated drinking water at K. Salundi village, Mysuru taluk, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah issued a stern warning, prompting officials to remain vigilant, constantly monitoring the quality of drinking water supplies across the district.

ZP CEO K.M. Gayathri, accompanied by officials, conducted inspections in various villages, including Siddaramanahundi, the CM’s native, on Sunday.

They assessed drinking water facilities, hygiene standards, borewell conditions and overall cleanliness. At Gargeshwari village in T. Narasipur taluk, the ZP CEO inspected borewell functionality, overhead tank maintenance and supply of drinking water under the Multi-village Drinking Water Project.

Subsequently, visits were made to Keelanapura, Duddagere, Varuna, Yadakola, Ranganathapura, Hoskote, and other villages in Nanjangud.

Here, the ZP CEO directed officials to take immediate measures to ensure access to safe drinking water in all villages. ASHA workers were instructed to conduct door-to-door visits to raise awareness about the epidemic and bacterial diseases.

Villagers were advised to boil water before consumption and to prioritise hygiene to prevent the spread of epidemics.

Mysuru TP EO Pradeep, Executive Engineer Mohammad Khaleem, PDO Kumararadhya, and other officials accompanied the ZP CEO.
