Mysuru: ZP Deputy Secretary Prem Kumar has called upon medical  officers to provide timely and appropriate treatment to patients.

He was addressing a district Health Mission meeting under the National Health Mission Scheme organised by the district Health and Family Welfare Department at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Thursday.

Expressing concern over rising Diphtheria cases in the district, Prem Kumar said that more than 500 suspected Diptheria cases have been reported from across the district so far which has been a cause of alarm.Pointing out that 70 percent of the symptoms have been found in youths aged between five and 16 years, he stressed on the need to administer DPT vaccine to children aged between five and six years and T.D. drops to children aged between seven and 16 years. 

Highlighting the importance of Indra Dhanush Vaccination Drive, he said that the first round of the drive will take place on  Dec. 20, 2019, the second round on Jan. 3, 2020, the third round on Feb. 4 and the fourth and last round on Mar. 2.

DHO Dr. Venkatesh, Medical Superintendent Pramila, RCHB Officer Dr. L. Ravi, WHO Medical Officer Sudhir Nayak and other officials were present.
