1,110 get jobs in Udyoga Mela on second day

Mysuru: On the second day of the Divisional-level Udyoga and Skill Mela at the Maharaja’s College Grounds, there were more than 8,550 job aspirants and nearly 1,110 were given employment on the spot, said Karnataka  Skill Development Corporation Chairman Muralidhar Halappa.

He was addressing a press conference here yesterday at the Grounds and said on the first day when the Mela began on Mar.3, the focus was on skill development and on the second day (Mar.4), 1,110 youth were picked up by various companies.

Those selected have to produce the necessary documents before the given date. Apart from this, those who have been short-listed by the companies during the interview will be contacted and given training and called for interview again, he said.

In Mysuru district 41,284, Mandya 18,664, Kodagu 5,187, Chamarajanagar 9,324 and Hassan 21,345 job aspirants had registered their names. Out of this, 8,550 appeared for the job interviews. We are sure that 70 percent of the youth who are trained under skill development will gain employment. Similarly there are job opportunities for those who undergo three and six months training in the camps, he said.

The aim of the government is to provide jobs for hardworking youths. As a result, youth empowerment will become productive. Along with this, those who are interested in self-employment will also be provided training. Till now, Udyoga Mela has been successfully conducted in many district centres. Through this Mela, 1.72 lakh candidates have been provided jobs in private companies, said Halappa. The government will pay the employers’ contribution for candidates selected by the private companies under Asha Deepa scheme.

For temporary employees, the government will pay ESI and PF for one year and a permanent employee will get the benefit for two years.

130 companies participate

Nearly 130 companies have participated in the three-day Udyoga and Skill Development Mela organised at the Maharaja’s College Grounds. A total number of 193 stalls have been allotted and the number of recruiters is 213.

In all 10,784 people registered online and orientation training was given to 10,611 of them. The candidates who registered for the interviews were 11,534, out of which 3,529 were selected or short-listed, while 745 were put on hold.
