14 Karnataka Battalion NCC unit adjudged ‘The Champion’

Bengaluru: 14 Karnataka Battalion NCC unit, in the last two years, has done exceedingly well and ensured their presence in every NCC competition at All India level.

In All India Shooting, 4 out of 14 Cadets from Karnataka and Goa Directorate, in All India Thal Sainik Camp out of 90 Cadets from Karnataka & Goa, 14 Cadets were from this unit and out of which five won bronze medals at Delhi.  From the Republic Day Camp 2023 at Delhi, 14 Cadets out of a total of 111 from Karnataka & Goa were again from this unit. Among which 9 Cadets had the unique privilege of marching on the Kartavyapath. The outstanding performance by the 14 Karnataka Battalion has been suitably rewarded.

During a colourful felicitation ceremony at Bengaluru presided by the Deputy  Director General of Karnataka and Goa Directorate,  Air Commodore B.S. Kanwar, VSM, this NCC unit has been adjudged the Champion Battalion for the year 2022-23 among more than 50 units comprising  around 1 lakh Cadets of Karnataka and Goa Directorate.

Excel Public School in Junior Division and Junior Wing category and JSS Ooty Road in Senior category have been awarded the Second Position.

The icing on the cake are the Cadets JUO Kalpana Kutappa who got the Prestigious Rajya Raksha Mantri Commendation Card and SUO S. Chaitra, the Defence Secretary Commendation Card, both from JSS Ooty Road. They are the only Cadets in entire Karnataka & Goa Directorate to win this laurel.

Commanding Officer Col. Manish Prasad said that it’s a proud moment for Mysuru that 14 Karnataka Battalion have been applauded for their sincere and professional effort. It is the hard work, dedication and the will to be the best; a concerted effort of the staff & ANOs to ensure that the best possible training is given.

He further added that we will continue doing our best and ensuring that the high standards set by us is maintained in coming years. He also congratulated the ANOs, Cadets, their parents and all the institutions for working together in achieving this prestigious award.
