15th  Shorin Kai National Karate Championship-2017

Mysuru: Okinawa Karate – Do Shorin Ryu Shorin Kai Association India had organised the 15th Shorin Kai National Karate Championship-2017 on Oct.28 and 29 at the Mysore  University Gymnastics Hall in city.

MLA Vasu and Andolana Assistant Editor Ravi Koti inaugurated the event. Shanthi Achappa, Chairperson, National Academy School, Gonikoppal and Fr. K.V. George, Principal, Pushpa Convent, were the guests of honour.

  1. Sunand Kumar, ex-Corporator, N.G. Shihan Shivadas, AKF Judge, Shihan Shankara, AKF Judge, Sensei Deepak Kumar, Secretary, Mysore Karate Association and T.K.Sukumaran, President, Organising Committee, were the chief guests.
  2. Krishnaiah, Director of Physical Education, University of Mysore, inaugurated the Kata bout while B. G. Kumar, In-charge DySP, Lokayukta, Chamarajanagar, inaugurated the Kumite bout of the tournament.

More than 750 participants from various States — Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, West Bengal and from different parts of Karnataka such as Mysuru, Bengaluru, Hassan, Sakleshpur, Holenarasipur, Arakalgud, Nanjangud, Chamarajanagar, Periyapatna, Kollegal, K.R. Nagar, Chinakurali, Kushalnagar, Gonikoppal and HD Kote —  took part in this karate tournament.

Wins laurels in Kata and Kumite

B.C. Vibhav Devaiah, a student of first year foundation at Kalaniketan School of Visual Arts, Vijayanagar 2nd Stage, has secured second place in Kata as well as Kumite events at the 15th National Karate Championship organised by Okinawa Karate – Do Shorin Ryu Shorin Kai Association India on Oct.29 at the University Gymnastics Hall.  He is training under S. Kyoshi Sunil Kumar (Blackbelt, 7th Dan). Vibhav is the son of Baduvanda Chittiappa and Sumi, residents of Bogadi.
