March 7, 2018

Mysuru:  In a ghastly road accident, two persons were killed on the spot and seven others sustained injuries in a collision between a KSRTC bus and a canter near Yelwal on Hunsur Road this morning.

The deceased were the driver and cleaner of the canter, while the injured who were all bus passengers, were treated at K.R. Hospital.

The mishap occurred at about 7.15 am when the speeding canter which was proceeding towards Mysuru, went out of control and overshot the road divider, hitting the KSRTC bus (KA-09 F-5073) which was proceeding to Chikmagalur, near the RMP Gate at Yelwal on Hunsur Road. The impact of the collision was such that the Police had a hard time in extracting the bodies of the driver and the cleaner from the mangled remains of the canter.

Traffic on the busy Mysuru-Hunsur Road was disrupted for sometime on account of the accident.

Yelwal Police, who rushed to the spot on receiving information, conducted mahazar and shifted the bodies to MMC&RI mortuary.
