35,000 vacant posts in Energy Dept. to be filled up soon: Chief Minister

June 24, 2025

Bengaluru: The State Government has planned to fill up as many as 35,000 vacant posts in the Energy Department in phases.

Announcing this while taking part in the Diamond Jubilee celebration of KPTCL (Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited) here recently, CM Siddaramaiah said the services of 532 Pourakarmikas serving in KPTCL will be regularised.

Maintaining that the State Congress Government is committed to fulfilment of promises, he said that his Government is walking the talk. Asserting that the State Government would discuss re-introduction of old-pension scheme, which was also one of the pre-poll promises, Siddaramaiah said that the Government was willing to fulfil the demands of KPTCL employees.

Pointing out that the first power plant in the country was established in Karnataka in 1902, he said the first power company in the State came into being in 1905 at Bengaluru and power was supplied to Palace in 1908.

“It is a matter of pride that the State has 34,000 MW power production capacity. We plan to increase power production to 60,000 MW, which will help in supplying 7 hours of quality power to IP sets of farmers even during day time,” he said.
