49th National Safety Day held at NIA

March 8, 2020

Nanjangud: Nanjangud Industries Association (NIA) conducted the 49th National Safety Day celebrations at its premises here recently. The programme commenced with the Safety Flag hoisting by Prabhakar Rao Shinde, Dy.SP of Nanjangud.

In his address, Shinde mentioned that safety begins right from when you wake up in the morning. While working in the factory atmosphere, usage of safety apparatus is a must to protect oneself. Life is so precious that one cannot show lethargy in following safety aspects. He also stressed on safety measures to be followed while on road and at home. He appreciated the initiative of NIA in celebrating the National Safety Day in a befitting manner. Dipan Biswas, Factory Manager, ITC Limited-Food Division, Thandya Industrial Area, was the chief guest and Dr. K. Anantha Gowda, General Manager- HR and Vice-President of NIA, was the guest of honour.

Dipan Biswas quoted a beautiful story on how children fall if there is no proper training given to them. “In a similar way, the industrial employees are also like children and it is our responsibility to train them properly and make them fully aware of the safety aspects while on the job,” he added. ‘Work safely and go back home safely’ was the message he gave to the workers.

Dr. K. Anantha Gowda spoke about the precautions one has to follow in all walks of life, whether you are in the factory or driving on the road. “It is our behaviour towards the safety which matters a lot in avoiding possible accidents. Accident is nothing but an ‘unplanned event’  which causes loss by way of injury or in worse situation, death. Hence, use helmets while riding,” he urged.
