Mysore/Mysuru: The NCC and NCC Alumni Association Mysore Group recently organised the 75th Raising Day of NCC at Sarada Vilas College Centenary Hall in city.
The event witnessed the presence of distinguished rank officers from the Army, Air Force, and Navy, along with over 350 cadets, NCC alumni members, and families of martyrs from the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
The NCC Alumni Members presented awards to cadets who excelled. Suvarsha Gowda, an NCC alumni member, not only achieved recognition at the national level but also secured a gold medal in BA Psychology from the University of Mysore. Additionally, D. Aishwarya, the lone cadet from Karnataka, completed her para-basic course.
Tributes were paid to senior citizen ex-cadets, some of whom had studied at Sarada Vilas College and reunited after 50 years. Cultural activities were organised, allowing cadets to display their talents in singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments.
The event paid homage to Lt. Ashok P. Mutgikar, a fallen hero during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. His brother, Mukund P. Mutgikar, shared the proud and emotional account of Lt. Ashok’s bravery and sacrifice.
Guests including Maj. M Nataraj, retired Principal of Sarada Vilas College, Col. Sohan Ganapathi, Administrative Officer of Mysore NCC Group, Gp. Capt. (Dr.) Vinay Vittal (Retd.) from the Indian Air Force and A.V. Vidyashankar, Founder and MD of Abhinava Group, delivered motivational speeches.
Coordinator of the Alumni Association D.M. Mithun recalled the support of various individuals and organisations that contributed to the event’s success.
Mysore Group NCC Group Commander Col. Rohit Thakur and Training Officer Col. Hitesh Kala were present.
NCC Raising Day at Seshadripuram Degree College: Seshadripuram Degree College, Outer Ring Road, Hebbal, Mysuru, in association with the College’s NCC Unit and 13 Karnataka Battalion NCC Mysuur, organised events on Nov.21 and 24 to mark the 75th NCC Raising Day.
A Tree Plantation Drive was organised on Nov. 21 along Hebbal Ring Road and a Blood Donation camp was conducted on Nov. 24 in the premises of the 13 Karnataka Battalion, Mysuru.
NCC Cadets played an active role in both these events, contributing to the success of the initiatives.
H.R. Prakyath and B.M. Prashanth, I B.Com students, were awarded certificates for their commendable participation in blood donation camp.
College Principal Dr. K. Sowmya Erappa, Lieutenant R. Kumar, Associate NCC Officer and staff members witnessed the tree plantation drive.
