8 MLCs served notices for furnishing false residential address

June 2, 2017

Bengaluru: Legislative Council Chairman D.H. Shankaramurthy has issued notices to eight MLCs of the Congress and JD(S), who have been accused of furnishing false residential address to vote during the BBMP Mayor election in Aug.  2016 and Ballari City Corporation election in Apr. 2017.

The notices have been issued following a complaint filed by leader of the Opposition in the BBMP Council Padmanabha Reddy demanding disqualification of MLCs R.B. Thimmapur, Alluru Veerabhardrapa, Raghu Achar, N.S. Bosaraju, S. Ravi, M.B. Lakshminarayan (all Congress) and C.R. Manohar and Appajiigowda of JD(S).

Shankaramurthy has sought an explanation as to why criminal cases should not be filed against them? Shankaramurthy’s move comes two days after Congress MLCs led by V.S. Ugrappa, submitted a notice to the Council Secretariat for moving a ‘No Confidence Motion’ against the Council Chairman in the forth coming Monsoon Session of State Legislature starting from June 5.
