83rd All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana: 600 artistes to be part of colourful procession

Mysuru: The three-day 83rd All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will be a grand affair with District Administration planning to have more than 15 tableaux, 60 folk troupes and more 600 artistes performing during the mega Kannada festival.

A meeting with the Secretaries of various Committees was held at the DC’s office to apprise DC D. Randeep about the responsibilities given to these Committees ahead of the Sahitya Sammelana. Speaking on the occasion, DC Randeep instructed the officials to come out with the plans of their respective Committees and submit the same in the next meeting.

Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Chennappa spoke elaborately about the Committees:

Procession Committee: The procession will witness around 15 tableaux taking part in the procession. The Committee has been given the responsibility of inspiring and influencing various schools and colleges also to come out with their own tableau. More than 600 artistes will take part in the procession during which Sammelana President will be carried in a chariot till the venue.

Stage Management Committee: The Stage Committee will have the responsibility of the conducting seminars from 10 am to 6 pm at the main venue and also cultural programmes between 6 pm and 9 pm at Town Hall, Dufferin Clock Tower, Kalamandira and Jaganmohan Palace.

Boarding and Transport Committee: With more than 10,000 delegates expected from various parts of the State, the Committee has to ensure boarding facilities for the delegates. The VIPs have to be provided boarding facilities within 1 km of city. This apart, bus facility has to be provided to transport those staying in various hotels and hostels to the venue.

Decoration Committee: The Committee has been given the responsibility of illuminating the main thoroughfares and circles in the city, installation of Kannada flags and tying buntings across the city.

Registration Committee: Various registration counters will be opened in city including at the City Railway Station, in front of Ursu Boarding School, Sub-Urban Bus Stand for the delegates to register their names.

Women’s Committee: This Committee will be in-charge ensuring women safety and provide necessary facilities.

Health Committee: A temporary counter will be opened at Kalamandira and other venues. Ambulance facility should be provided to transport delegates to hospitals in case of an emergency. This apart, the Committee must also ensure to provide 24 hours medical facility at the Health Centres with doctors.

Publicity Committee: To take up publicity works throughout the district.

Cultural Committee: To organise cultural programmes by National and International-level artistes at various venues.

Food Mela: The food counters will be opened in four divisions and will cater to 2,000 VIPs, 300 media persons, 10,000 people at Ursu Boarding School and 30,000 people at Scouts and Guides.
