84 films to be screened at Dasara Film Festival

Mysuru, Sept. 7 (MK&VNS)- Dasara Film Festival, one of the major attractions of the Dasara celebrations, will be held from Sept. 14 to 20 at INOX in Mall of Mysore. A total of 84 films, including short films, will be screened during the week-long event.

This year’s festival will be inaugurated by District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa at Mall of Mysore on M.G. Road in city.

Actors from the film Su from So — Sandhya Arakere, Prithvi Ambaar and Anjali — along with playback singers Jas Karan and Nagarjun Sharma will be present at the inaugural event.

Screenings and highlights

Movies will be screened across three screens at INOX, with special focus on children and women-oriented films.

This year, the festival is dedicated to veteran actress B. Sarojadevi, who passed away recently. A special retrospective featuring some of her most memorable films will also be showcased as part of the tribute.

As a mark of respect to legendary Kannada film directors Puttanna Kanagal, N. Lakshminarayan, Siddalingaiah and Ravi, a photo expo has been organised at INOX.

Short film competition

To encourage young filmmakers, the Dasara Film Festival Sub-Committee has organised a short film competition and selected short films will be screened during the festival. Top three films will be awarded at a special ceremony on Sept. 18.

Awards will also be given for Best Editor and Best Cinematographer. Festival passes are available at Rs. 300 — students and Rs. 500 for — general public.

Each pass includes a booklet containing information about the films being screened.
