91st UoM Annual Athletic Meet 2019: Three New Meet Records set on opening day

Three New Meet Records were set on the opening day of the three-day 91st Annual University of Mysore (UoM) Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet (2019-20) held at the University Oval Athletic Grounds here yesterday.

B.K. Bhavana of Yuvaraja’s College (Autonomous), Mysuru, emerged as the fastest woman of the Meet by winning the gold in the women’s 100m event with a timing of 12.07s and erased the 21-year-old record of 12.19s set by Champarani of Teresian College, Mysuru in 1998-99.

In the second record of day, V. Ambika of Maharani’s Science College, Mysuru, threw the Shot-Put to a record distance of 14.77m, erasing the previous mark of 14.44m set by Meghana Devang of Maharani’s Arts College, Mysuru, in 2017-18.

In the Men’s Section, Md. Saqlain Ahmed of Vidyaashram FGC, Mysuru, hurled the discus to a record distance of 45.72m erasing the previous mark of 40.69m set by M.R. Nandish of PG Sports Council in 2010-11.
