95th University of Mysore Inter-Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Annual Athletic Meet

PGSC MGM & T. Narasipur’s PRM Vijaya FGC win Overall Team Championships

Mysuru: The Department of Physical Education (DPE), University of Mysore (UoM), conducted its 95th Annual Men’s and Women’s Athletic Meet from Nov. 5 to 7 at University of Mysore Athletic Ground (Oval Grounds) in city.

The event was inaugurated by V.R. Shylaja, Registrar, UoM, who released a pigeon to mark the occasion. In her speech, she drew inspiration from the 2024 Para Olympic medallists, encouraging athletes to embody leadership, teamwork and fair play. She then formally declared the Annual Sports Meet of the University of Mysore open.

Over 600 male and female athletes from various colleges across Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Hunsur and Mysuru participated in this three-day event, competing in 24 athletic events.

Prof. N. Nagaraj, Registrar (Examination) and Director of PMEB, UoM, was the chief guest.

Dr. P. Krishnaiah, Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Education (DPE), welcomed the gathering. Dr. C. Venkatesh, Director of DPE, presided over the inaugural ceremony. T.S. Ravi, Yoga Coach at UoM, co-ordinated the programme. Dr. H.S. Krishnakumar, Assistant Director of DPE, proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. Shilpa, Syndicate Member, various college PE Directors and participating athletes  were present.

Chief guests, Dr. C. Basavaraju, Syndicate Member, UoM and M. Umesh, Treasurer, Mysore District Athletic Association, distributed the rolling trophies to the winners at the valedictory ceremony held on Nov. 7.
