Farmers stage protest demanding loan waiver

June 18, 2018

Mysuru:  More than 100 farmers, belonging to Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and Hasiru Sene, staged a demonstration as part of the State-wide protest in front of the DC’s office here this morning, demanding waiver of all kinds of loans.

The protest, led by District KRRS President Hosur Kumar, condemned the delay in announcing complete waiver of farm loans, though Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had promised to waive it off as soon as he assumed office.

The demands included waiver of crop loans, tractor, tiller and loans on other agriculture equipment, cattle rearing, bullock cart loan and also loans from commercial banks. They also demanded compensation of Rs.20,000 per acre to the farmers for the loss of crops in the floods at Nanjangud.

KRRS Gen. Secretary Hoskote Basavaraj led the protest.

this is a bad concept of waiving the loans. it should be never be implemented. why not for other citizens of this state why only farmers ? even other citizens are entitled. so stop this nonsense idea.

  2. Dr.A.V.Balakrishna says:

I first thought that waiving farmers loan was a election topic to be exploited by politicians of either group. Their subject is now exploited by Farmers as their legitimate right extending beyond elections. One can see deserving faces in the picture while most others are non deserving and if need be can purchase all farmers at once. Do they need a waiver?
Why there must be waiver? Any such crops must be insured by insurance. Imagine one purchase a car and use it for some time and cannot pay the loan to Bank. Will the Bank leave them and waive their loan? May be they would for people like Nirav Modi and others only if the stake is several crores!
If the country has to progress these type of cheap politics and movements has to stop for good citizens to exist and make it prosper.
