‘Use Sarathi-4 to apply for Driving Licences’

June 27, 2018

Mysuru: People can apply for Learner’s Licence (LLR) and Driving Licence (DL) using Sarathi-4, informed C.T. Murthy, Joint Commissioner for Transport, Mysuru. Sarathi is an application of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways which provides pan-India database of drivers.

The online application window, Sarathi-4, was first launched in some of the RTOs in Bengaluru during February-March and has received positive response. Later it was extended to Mysuru. Henceforth, those who want to apply for DL or LLR in Mysuru do not need to go to the respective RTO offices as the Transport Department will begin online operations. It has been implemented in over 1,000 RTOs across India. The officials said that Sarathi-4 has been completely commissioned in Mysuru RTOs.

Under previous version of the software (Sarathi-3), applicants had to fill and upload details in the applications online and also submit a physical copy of the documents. They were also required to visit the RTO for signing the document. Sarathi-4 removes such hassles, limiting RTO visit to the driving test evaluation.

Interested should visit https://parivahan.gov.in and select the option for driving related applications under ‘online services’. The website will guide you to the next step.

Those who are applying for licences can submit either SSLC marks card or LIC Bonds or Transfer Certificate for age proof. For address proof, applicants can submit Aadhaar Card, voter ID card, ration card or passport. Those who are above 40 years must apply after obtaining a medical certificate.

Vehicle permit: To renew vehicle permit in Sarathi-4, applicants must produce the previous permit and the permit expiry communication letter, enter the details at the computer section of RTO Office and then proceed to pay the prescribed fees after getting permission from RTO.

Conductor licence: For conductor licence, applicants must produce the original conductor licence before the RTO and the details must be entered in the computer and then pay the prescribed fees.
