Mysuru:  With Gowri-Ganesha festival fast approaching, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has warned idol-makers against making and selling idols of Plaster of Paris (PoP).

In a press release, the MCC has warned of criminal action against idol-makers using PoP. The MCC has asked the members of the public not to use such idols and those coated with hazardous paints and to use eco-friendly idols made only of clay.

Giving some tips, the MCC has asked the members of the public to immerse the idol only in buckets and to remove all offerings and decorations before immersing it in specified ponds, the release added.
