Mysuru: With the post of Senior Deputy Director of Food and Civil Supplies Department upgraded to Joint Director, Shivanna took charge as Joint Director of Food and Civil Supplies Department here on Saturday.

Speaking to SOM, after taking charge, Shivanna said that he assumed charge on Saturday on Government’s direction.

Pointing out that the post was meant for Senior Deputy Director till 2015, he said that the Government upgraded the post to Joint Director in all City Corporations and accordingly, he took charge on Saturday.

It may be mentioned here that Senior Deputy Director Dr. K. Rameshwarappa was suspended after over a thousand quintals of ‘Anna Bhagya’ rice went missing from Nanjangud godown earlier   this month.

But Dr. Rameshwarappa succeeded in bringing a stay to his suspension from the KAT and even before he could resume office, Shivanna took charge as Joint Director in the  upgraded post.
