Will multi-level parking facility at Town Hall open for Dasara?

September 24, 2018

Sir,

This year’s Dasara festival is fast approaching but the construction of multi-level parking facility in the Town Hall premises is not completed. As a result, once again, it may lead to parking issues in the busy central business district area.

On the other side, people are parking their vehicles as per their whims and fancies ignoring the heavy penalties if their vehicles are towed away by ‘Tiger’. Many argue that the available parking area is not enough for parking the rising number of vehicles in the city and MCC has not created additional parking lots in busy areas.

If this situation continues, it may become very difficult for Traffic Police to clear the roads for free movement of vehicles.

Besides I wonder if people will ever utilise the parking lot at Town Hall and go for shopping on D.D. Urs Road/ Ashoka Road or not. Similarly the shop owners, who are habituated to parking on the footpaths or right in front of their shops. I do not think they will use the parking complex to park their vehicles and come to their respective shops. Only time has to tell us how citizens’ parking woes are solved.
