Mysuru Golfer Pranavi Urs gets Golf Scholarship in Bahamas

Fourteen-year-old Pranavi S. Urs, who has represented India in the Junior and the Ladies Amateur-level, has been offered a $1,00,000 Golf Scholarship to the Albany Academy in Bahamas for a eleven-month period.

Pranavi, a 8th standard student at the National Public School, Mysuru, and a product of the JWGC, Mysuru, encouraged by her parents Sharath Chandra Raj Urs and Kaivalya Urs, took up to playing golf at the tender age of 8 years, and after winning in a Zonal Sub-Junior Tournament next year, has not looked back and has made steady progress in the sport.

Pranavi is presently representing India in the Singha Open Golf Tournament-2018 at Bangkok, Thailand, which began from Monday.

Pranavi has been consistently performing well in the Junior and Senior Circuits in the country and has won several titles.

Pranavi has won the title in the Pro-Tournament on the Indian Women’s Circuit – the ninth leg of the Hero WGAI Tour at Eagleton in Bengaluru.

Pranavi earned selection to the Indian team finishing second in the National trials held at Delhi in February last year. She also performed well in the 2017 Hero Women’s Indian Open by finishing as the best performing amateur.

Scholarship

Mitchell Spearman Academy reviewed her performance and areas of strength and on the basis of her immaculate tournament record and steady improvement, has awarded the scholarship which begins from November 2018. It will cover her tuition fees, living expenses and tournament fees, which in turn will allow her to pursue her dream of playing on the LPGA tour.

She will also be taken into local tournaments in the USA by the Academy.

Spearman is the founder of the Mitchell Speraman Academy at Alabany. He has coached and helped golfers including Nick Faldo, Greg Norman, Billy Hurley III and Sandra Gal.

Pranavi, till now coached by Steven Giuliano, will be helped in the Academy by Mitchell and Giuliano who will work in close collaboration.

Pranavi is one among the top junior golfers in the country and this exposure at the Mitchell Spearman Academy at Alabany will help her pursue her golfing career and take her game to the next level in the days to come.
