November 21, 2018

Mysuru:  The Mysuru Forest Mobile Squad, which had recently rescued three Pangolins besides arresting four accused and seizing two bikes and a car, have once again arrested a person, who was attempting to sell a Pangolin at Kollegal and have rescued the most poached mammal besides seizing a bike used for the crime.

Acting on a tip off, the Mysuru Forest Mobile Squad personnel, led by DCF Poovaiah, raided the spot in Kollegal and arrested 30-year-old Rangaswamy, son of Rangashetty of R.S. Doddi village in Hunsur taluk and rescued the Pangolin besides seizing the bike (KA-02 EU-1485) used for the crime.

The accused was produced before the JMFC Court in Kollegal, which remanded him to judicial custody.

The rescued Pangolin was later released into the forest.

It is suspected that there is a big racket behind the smuggling of Pangolins.
