Man arrested for stealing van Rs.2 lakh worth vehicle recovered

Mysuru: Narasimharaja (NR) Police, on Dec.1, have taken into custody a person who was trying to sell a Maruti Omni van without registration number plate at a throwaway price near Columbia Asia Hospital on Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway.

On interrogating him, the accused is said to have confessed of stealing the van using duplicate key at Channarayapatna following which the Cops arrested him and recovered the van worth about Rs.2 lakh.

The accused is Rahil Ahmed, a resident of Vidyanagar in Channarayapatna of Hassan district.

DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe and NR Sub-Division ACP Gopal supervised NR Inspector B. Basavaraju, SI N. Mohan and staff Ramesh, Manjunath, Mahadeva, Krishna and Ramesh in the nabbing and recovery operation, according to a press release from the Public Relations Officer (PRO), City Police Commissioner’s office.
