Mysurean receives President’s Police Medal

New Delhi:  Kalengada Muthanna Cariappa, a resident of Mysuru, received the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service from Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju during the Sashastra Seema Bal’s Anniversary Day Investiture Ceremony in New Delhi on Dec. 24.

Cariappa, until recently, was serving in the 90,000 strong elite Border Security Force, which is assigned the task of Border Management of Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders. He retired on May 31 this year.

The award was presented in recognition of his exceptional services in the spheres of organisational History, Publicity, Public Relations, Perception Management and Border Management. He has several publications to his credit.

Cariappa had received the Indian Police Medal for his meritorious services on Jan. 26, 2010.

Cariappa, after completing his graduation from Railway Degree College in Secunderabad, went on to complete Post-Graduation and M. Phil courses from the Bangalore University and PG Diploma in Public Relations from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

Cariappa has also entered into the Limca Book Records for carving a 3 mm elephant in chalk. He has carved 2 mm and 1.5 mm elephants and intends to be in the Record Books again. He is also specialised in the study of Phrenology, the study of human behaviour from the shape of the cranium (part of the top portion of the skull which protects the brain).
