JEE Main Exam Going on; Know About the Exam Analysis and Expected Cutoff

The JEE Main exam commenced from January 06, 2019 by the National Testing Agency. The Paper I of JEE Main 2019 deals with engineering courses like B.Tech and B.E., whereas the Paper II deals with the Architectural courses.

Lakhs of students attempted the exam in the first slot. Considering the tension surrounding the examination, here presenting a quick analysis of the exam and the expected JEE Main Cutoff for 2019. The analysis is categorized in different points so as to render a deeper understanding of each aspect.

Overall Analysis

The Paper of JEE Main 2019 was divided into three sections Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. These included 30 questions from each section. The total weightage of Paper 1 of JEE Mains is 360 marks. Every correct answer will be awarded marks whereas incorrect replies will be deducted one mark. However, no marks will be deducted for questions that are left un-attempted.

Paper 2 is for seeking admission to Architectural courses like B.Arch. and B. Planning. The paper was held on January 08, 2019 in two slots. However, in comparison to previous years, paper 1 will be held in two sessions one from morning 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and other from after 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. Additionally, students who wished to attempt both the papers i.e. Paper I and Paper II must appear for both the slots on the same day.

Difficulty Level

The 1st slot of the JEE Main 2019 was conducted successfully with millions of students attempting the examination. As per the feedback received by students, the paper I of the test was moderately difficult in comparison to the previous year paper. Most questions were based on NCERT syllabus and were tricky too.

Type of Questions

As per the analysis, out of every 30 questions, 5 to 6 questions were similar to that of previous year papers. Thus, any student who had solved questions from previous years would have particularly found it easier and able to attempt all the questions.

Furthermore, of the three sections including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, Chemistry was considered moderately difficult, Physics – Easy to Moderate and Mathematics to the most difficult of all three categories.

Section Wise Analysis

  • Physics paper

In the JEE Main Paper I an equal weightage was rendered to all the chapters from all three subjects. The Physics paper was tougher in comparison to chemistry and mathematics. Chapters included Thermodynamics, Mechanics, Modern Physics, and Magnetism and so on. More questions were asked from Current Electricity and Mechanics with 7 and 8 questions each.

  • Chemistry Paper

In comparison to the other two subjects, the Chemistry paper was considered moderately difficult. The questions were directly taken from the NCERT syllabus. More questions were asked from the Periodic table, Organic Chemistry, Hydrocarbons, States of matter with overall weightage of 2 or 1 questions from other chapters.

  • Mathematics Paper

Mathematics section like any other year was considered to be the most difficult one. All chapters from the section of Conics were covered in the paper. Major chapters covered included Matrices, Integration, Derivatives, Coordinate Geometry, Complex Numbers, and Quadratic Equations. The section was lengthy, comprising of more calculative questions as compared to other sections.

Paper II Analysis

The Paper II of JEE Main comprised of three sections which are Aptitude, Drawing, and Mathematics. It is an important paper for candidates who seek admission to Architectural courses like B.Arch. and B.Planning. As per the analysis, the paper II of JEE Main 2019 was relatively difficult in comparison to the previous year papers.

JEE Main 2019 Expected Cut Off

The next step after the examination is the JEE Main 2019 cut off. The expected cut off for JEE Main 2019 is between 100 to 110 in comparison to the previous year when the expected cut off for Paper I was between 86 to 90 out of 360 marks for General Category.
