CII breathes life back into Kempegowdana Katte Lake

Mysuru:  D.K. Lingaraju, Joint Director, District Industries Centre, Mysuru, recently inaugurated the rejuvenated Kempegowdana Katte Lake in K.R. Srinivasan IPS Nagar, Lalithadripura. The Lake was brought back to life by Mysuru unit of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

He said that about Rs.39 crore was spent on various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in Mysuru during 2018-19 and added that the State appreciated the initiatives.

Tilak Raj Pahwa, Deputy General Manager (DGM), SBI Mysuru, said that SBI would support more CSR activities through CII and DIC. The Kempegowdana Katte Lake rejuvenation was funded by SBI Mysuru.

Arjun Ranga, Chairman, CII Mysuru and CEO of N. Ranga Rao and Sons Pvt. Ltd., said that CII was pleased to complete the rejuvenation of one more lake and planned to work with the District Administration and industries in other such initiatives.

CII has also initiated Mysore Water Positive by 2021, in association with the District Administration in 2016-17. “We are happy to initiate and facilitate such projects and it is for the industries and residential welfare societies to take it forward for further maintenance,” he said.

Earlier, former Joint Director of the District Industries Centre, Ramakrishna Gowda welcomed the gathering. He mentioned that there were over 23 lakes that had been identified by CII to be rejuvenated in and around Mysuru but only a few lakes got rejuvenated. The CII has requested industries to take up more such CSR activities going forward, he said.

The Resident Welfare Association members assured the CII that they will maintain the lake in good condition.

Bhaskar Kalale, Vice-Chairman of CII Mysuru, who is also the President and General Manager of India Operations, Theorem India Pvt. Ltd., Amit Kumar, Business Unit Head in Larsen & Toubro Ltd. and Tahsildar T. Ramesh Babu were present.
