Sri Ramakrishna Rathotsava held

February 20, 2019

Mysuru:  Mysuru Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama’s Swami Shantivratanandaji has said that the thoughts and principles of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Maate Sharada Devi and Swami Vivekananda must be entrenched in every mind and practised in all homes.

He was speaking at Sri Ramakrishna Rathotsava, organised by city’s Ramakrishna Balaga at Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Circle in Ramakrishnanagar here on Monday.

Pointing out that the preaching of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Sharada Devi and Swami Vivekananda had inspired the then CITB (now MUDA) Chairman D. Madegowda to name three layouts after the three great saints, Swami Shantivratanandaji said the installation of statues of Vivekananda and Paramahamsa was a good development.

Noting that such a giant statue of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa cannot be seen in his (Ramakrishna) home State of West Bengal, the Swamiji said that the citizens of Mysuru had become a model to the nation by the installation of their statues.

Stating that Swami Vivekananda earned global fame through his speeches, he said that it was Swami Vivekananda who spread the rich Indian traditions and Sanatana Dharma to the entire world.

Observing that Ramakrishna Paramahamsa has set a great precedent on how to respect women, through the incarnation of Maate Sharada Devi, he said that although Ramakrishna Paramahamsa had little education, he earned the love and affection of highly learned people.

The Swamiji, who lauded the efforts of Corporator Sunanda Palanetra in the installation of Swami Vivekananda statue, wanted the MCC to also install a statue of Sharada Devi in the city.

Bodha Swaroopanandaji of Ponnampet, Kodagu, said that perhaps Kuvempu would not have attained such fame, had he not learnt at Ramakrishna Ashrama.

Observing that Ramakrishna Ashrama’s guidance and Swami Vivekananda’s preaching played a crucial role in Kuvempu’s achievements as a literary giant, he said that the youth of the country must draw inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s ideology and preachings.

Former MLC D. Madegowda said that the residents of Ramakrishnanagar, Sharadadevinagar and Vivekanandanagar, must remember the three saints  daily and imbibe their teachings for leading a better life.

Earlier, a grand procession of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda and Sharada Devi Ratha were taken out from the Circles named after them.

MCDCC Bank President G.D. Harish Gowda, Suyog Hospital Chairman Dr. S.P. Yoganna, Corporators Lakshmikiran Madegowda, Sunanda Palanetra, Nirmala Harish, Sharath Kumar and others were present.
