Housewife commits suicide over alleged dowry harassment

Mysuru:  Depressed over frequent harassment for dowry allegedly by her husband and his family members, a 27-year-old housewife committed suicide by hanging self at the house in  J.P. Nagar here.

The deceased is Chandrika, wife of Rajendra and a resident of Janata Layout in J.P. Nagar.

Chandrika, who was married to Rajendra in 2012, has two children. It is alleged that after a few months of marriage, Rajendra and his family members were harassing Chandrika mentally and physically to get dowry from her parents. Depressed over frequent harassment,   Chandrika is said to have committed suicide. Chandrika’s father Puttanna has lodged a complaint at Vidyaranyapuram Police Station and the Police.

The Police, who have registered a case of dowry harassment, have arrested Chandrika’s husband Rajendra, mother-in-law Shivarathnamma and brother-in-law Veerendra and are investigating.
