Use of plastic in preparing, packing food items banned

Mysuru:  The office of the Designated Officer, Mysuru Food Safety and Standard Act, Mysuru City Corporation Area, has banned the use of plastic in any form and also printed papers by roadside food vendors which preparing and packing food items.

If anyone found using the banned materials, stern action would be initiated against them under Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSA) Act. The roadside food vendors are instructed to keep the surroundings of their business place clean and free from pollution and use quality raw materials, clean water and not to use banned colours and chemicals. Instructions are also given to dispose waste in a proper way.

Spot fine/ jail term and other FSSA rules would be initiated if the above instructions are not followed, according to a press release.
