Mysuru: A 21-year-old girl student ended life by hanging self at her residence in Hootagalli yesterday reportedly unable to meet the high expectations of her mother.

Maanya, daughter of  Myna and Mandanna couple and a resident of an apartment in Hootagalli, is the deceased.

Maanya, a B.Com student at a city college, was found hanging at her residence on Thursday night, following which the neighbours rushed her to K.R. Hospital,  where she was declared brought dead.

A death note written in English found in her person, said that she had taken the extreme step as she had failed to meet the academic expectations of her mother, it is learnt.

Vijayanagar Police have registered a case in this regard.
