MCC distributes financial assistance to 102 artistes

Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) distributed financial assistance of Rs.10,000 each to 102 artistes of city at a function held at the Old MCC Council Hall here yesterday. The amount will be transferred online to the bank accounts of the artistes. On a symbolic note, cheques were given away to four artistes.

Mayor Pushpalata Jagannath, Deputy Mayor Shafi Ahmed, MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag, Financial Standing Committee Chairperson Shoba, Corporators Ramprasad, Gopi, SBM Manju, Ramesh, Vedavati and Rukmini were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Pushpalata Jagannath observed that mythological plays with very good social and moral messages are on the decline now and suggested the artistes to reverse the trend.

Shilpa Nag said that Mysuru had retained the tag of the cultural Capital with good encouragement for art and culture. She added that the financial assistance could be a small sum but it would surely motivate the artistes.
