Mysuru: In a tragic incident, one person was killed while another sustained serious injuries, when a KSRTC bus ran over them, while they were standing and talking on a concrete culvert opposite Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) near Mahadevapura Road on the Ring Road here yesterday afternoon.
While the deceased has been identified as Ashwath (30), son of Siddappa of Hebbadi village, Srirangapatna Taluk in Mandya district, the seriously injured has been identified as 32-year-old Chandru, a resident of Dr. Ambedkar Nagar near Rajivnagar in city, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital here.
It is reported that Ashwath and Chandru were standing and talking on the concrete box drain culvert with the bike, when a KSRTC bus coming from Kalyangiri side was hit by a lorry from behind, which was coming from Mahadevapura side.
Due to the impact, the KSRTC bus ran over the two, injuring them seriously. Though both of them were rushed to the hospital, Ashwath breathed his last on the way to the hospital, while Chandru was admitted for treatment, according to the Police.
Siddarthanagar Traffic Police, who rushed to the spot on receiving information, conducted mahazar and registered a case.
