Shreya Kolathaya to perform at Raaga on Saturday

Raaga Music Academy, as part of its Music for Wellness programmes, is featuring Vidu. Shreya Kolathaya, the multi- talented artiste on Saturday, the 20th July at Prajna Kuteera, Kuvempunagar at 5.30 pm.

She was initiated into Karnatak Music at the age of eight by Guru Ganacharya Kanchana Narayana Bhat. Her tutelage continued under Vid. Ravikiran (disciple of Vid. R.K. Srikantan) and Vid. T.M. Krishna. Currently, Vid. R.K. Shriramkumar is guiding her. 

Her ability to participate, learn and interact with a multitude of established performers such as Dr. Balamuralikrishna, Vid. Vittal Ramamurthy, Vidu. Bombay Jayashree, Vidu. Sowmya, Vid. Abhishek Raghuram etc., has put her on a steady pedestal.

Her hunger to learn and perform has come in for special mention by noted music critic late Aishwarayya, amongst others. A Master’s in Mathemetics, Shreya has been awarded the Scholarship for Karnatak Classical Music by the Kannada and Culture Department, INSPIRE scholarship for pursuing Research by the Central Government. 

Graded B by AIR, she has performed at various platforms like TAG Future Voices of Karnataka, Chennai, AKP Fine Arts, Vani Mahal, PARAMPARA, Gokhale Shastri Hall, all Chennai, Karnataka Sangha, Mysore Sangeetha Vidyalaya, Mumbai, Sheshadripuram Rama Seva Mandali, Ananya, Bengaluru, Nada Brahma Sangeetha Sabha, Ganabharathi etc.

Vid. Janardhan Srinath on the violin, Vid. Sai Shivu Lakshmi Keshav on the mridanga and Vid. M.R. Manjunath on the ghata are the accompanying artistes for the evening.

Dr. N.V. Krishnamurthy, Director, Prajna Kuteera, will deliver his talk on Healthy Living through Ayurveda and Yoga from 4.30 pm to 5.15 pm at the same venue.
