Mysuru: The Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) is all set to build additional hostels to its students in the next academic year.
The College had decided to construct new hostels as it is expecting the grant of additional 100 seats by the Medical Council of India (MCI) in the next academic year. Currently, there are about 150 students pursuing their medical education.
Two hostels and a library will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 120 crore under the Central Government and State Government’s grant of 60 per cent and 40 per cent respectively.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, MMC&RI Dean and Director Dr. C.P. Nanjaraj said that men’s hostel and library would be constructed near the PG Men’s Hostel inside the College premises and the new hostel for women will be built next to the existing Women’s Hostel on KRS Road.
The two hostels will have 150 rooms each and can accommodate three students in one room. The tender process for men’s hostel has been completed and soon construction will begin, he added.
