Mayor denies misuse of free mobile phones

May 2, 2017

Mysuru: Denying charges that certain Corporators misused free mobile connections offered by BSNL under CUG (Closed User Group) which led to the disconnection of all mobile phones, Mayor M.J. Ravikumar alleged that the MCC Commissioner did not bring to the notice of the MCC Council, the circular issued by the Directorate of Municipal Administration on Apr.26 instructing to withdraw free mobile services.

Addressing a press meet at the MCC Council Hall this noon, the Mayor said the circular only mentioned alleged misuse by Corporators but was silent on the alleged misuse by MCC officials.

Maintaining that only a few connections may have been misused and it was not correct to impose mass disconnections, he said that such a move was an insult to Corporators.

The Mayor said that the issue would be brought to the notice of Chief Minister Siddharamaiah shortly.
