Mysuru, Sept. 4 (PM&DM)- Maintaining that the society is being broken up in the name of Lord Rama, veteran theatre personality Prasanna has regretted the tendency to glorify violence in cinemas.
He was speaking at an interaction on ‘Social movement and newspapers’ organised by city’s Desiranga Cultural Organisation in memory of Journalist Rajashekar Koti at Maneyangala in Kalamandira here on Saturday.
Alleging that efforts were going on for a single language in the name of one country, Prasanna said that while there is one group fighting for multi-language and multi-culture, another group is striving for bringing unilateralism by wiping out pluralism.
Recalling that during Emergency in the mid-70s, those who opposed dictatorship were jailed, Prasanna expressed concern that such a situation is reappearing now, with fascism raising its ugly head once again.
Noting that creating rifts is much easier than bringing about peace and harmony, he cautioned the youth against getting attracted to violence and hatred.
Cultural activist Jagadish Koppa, Desiranga’s Krishna Janamana, B.S. Dinamani and others were present.
