Rider killed as bus runs over

February 15, 2017

A two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot when the vehicle he was travelling was run over by a KSRTC bus yesterday night. The deceased has been identified as Ashok (36), a native of Gowribidanur in Chikkaballapur and a resident of Bogadi in city.

Ashok, who was returning home after work on Bogadi-Doora Road, on his Honda Activa, was hit head-on by the bus near Adakanahalli resulting him suffering grievous injuries. The passersby and villagers called the ambulance in vain.

KR Traffic Police, who visited the spot, arrested Mahantesh, the bus driver.

Following the mishap, people launched a snap stir alleging that despite many fatal accidents reported on the road the concerned authorities had not taken action. The protestors demanded road humps to avoid overspeeding by heavy vehicles.

ACP (Traffic) Madaiah, Sarawathipuram Police Inspector K.C. Poovaiah and staff, who arrived at the spot, pacified the agitators. Later, they shifted Ashok’s body to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem. KR Traffic Police are investigating.
