Mysuru: The Mysore Forest Mobile Squad, headed by DCF A.T. Poovaiah, was felicitated by Governor Vajubhai R. Vala on the occasion of 65th Wildlife Week valedictory function held at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall in Bengaluru on Oct.9.
The function was organised by the Karnataka Forest Department.
The Mysore Forest Mobile Squad had booked 11 wildlife cases in a year, arrested 34 accused, seized three cars and seven motorcycles involved in the cases.
Apart from this, one tiger skin pelt, three elephant tusks, one spotted deer skin were seized. An illegal gun too was seized and handed over to the Police.
Also, live animals like Pangolin (four), a Red Sandboa, an Indian owl and 28 Partridges were seized and released safely inside the forest by the Mobile Squad after taking permission from the Court.
Following the above seizures during the year, the Forest Department had recognised the service of Mysore Team comprising A.T. Poovaiah, DCF; H.S. Prakash, RFO retd.; P. Lakshmish, RFO in-charge; Madhusudhan, K.S. Mohankumar, H.M. Pramod, M.J. Nagaraj and H.N. Mahesh, all DRFOs; Y.K. Sathish, Sharanappa, Govinda, B.A. Ravikumar, L. Ravinandan, Kotresh Poojar, Mahantesh Naik and Channabasavaiah, Forest Guards; Samad Khan, Puttaswamy and Madhu, Drivers.
