Mysuru: Carmel Catholic Association (CCA) on Shivaji Road in N.R. Mohalla has organised the 27th Annual Carol Singing Competition on Dec. 8, with the theme ‘Singing for Peace and Unity’ at Teresian College auditorium in Siddarthanagar.
The participants of the competition are allowed to sing carols, either in English, Hindi or any other regional languages like Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Tamil etc. The competition is conducted in 12 categories, and is divided group-wise for students of Kindergarten, Primary, Higher Primary, High Schools, Colleges, Religious Congregations, Parishes of all Christian denominations and professional musicians. More than 90 teams, comprising 30 to 40 team members in each group, which maybe around 4,000 participants, have already registered of the contest.
The day-long programme will commence at 9 am and go on till 6.30 pm. Attractive trophies and cash awards, sponsored by philanthropists and various organisations, will be presented to the winners in each category.
Msgr. Rev. Thomas Thennattil Augusthy will inaugurate the programme at 9 am in the presence of Rev. Fr. Renish Varghese Puthussery-CMI, who will be the guest of honour. Joseph Chacko, President of CCA, will preside.
The valedictory will be held at 6.30 pm which will be presided by Bishop of Mysore Rev. Dr. K.A.William. Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University Vice-Chancellor Nagesh V. Bettakote will be the chief guest. Rev. Dr. Varghese Kelamparampil CMI, Patron and Provincial, St.Paul’s Province, Mysuru, will be the guest of honour.
