Mysuru: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, city unit of Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat in association with Kuvempu High School, Saraswathipuram had organised a programme to celebrate the National Mathematics Day at the school premises recently.
National Mathematics Day is celebrated on Dec. 22 every year to mark the birth anniversary of legendary Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan and his contributions to the field of mathematics.
Speaking on the occasion, convenor of the Vijnana Parishat R. Anantharamu highlighted the contribution of ancient Indian mathematicians like Aryabhata and Bhaskaracharya to the field and elaborated about why math is important to science. Mathematics faculty of Vidyavardhaka College Prof. Sriraj spoke about life and works of Ramanujan. Head Master of Kuvempu High School Shankaregowda presided over the event.
